Dr. Vanessa Youssef-ND

History
I have been a Naturopathic Doctor since 2011, but my journey to this profession began when I was a teenager and I experienced the effects of Naturopathic Medicine first hand. I was amazed that even the most minor of my symptoms was a significant clue to discovering the cause of what ailed me, and that my issues could be addressed in gentle, non invasive, yet effective ways. Now, as an Ontario board certified Naturopathic Doctor, I am passionate about providing this same gentle, holistic, and effective health care to help my patients understand the root of their symptoms and support their innate ability to heal.
education
My love for the complexities of the human body and health studies started at York University, where I completed my Bachelor of Health Sciences in Kinesiology. This set the foundation for me to attend the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto for 4 years to become a Naturopathic Doctor. During this time, I interned at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC) and Anishnawbe Community Health Toronto, a center providing care to theNative population in the city, while focusing my training on pediatrics.

After earning my ND, I went on to complete 2 years of residency at CCNM, during which time I worked as a resident supervisor to clinical interns at the RSNC, Anishnawbe, and Sherbourne Community Health Center, a clinic providing care to individuals living with HIV and AIDS. I started my private practice at this time, focusing on women’s health.

After 3 years of practicing as an ND, I realized I wanted a more diverse perspective on medicine and decided to go back to school at the University of Toronto to become a Registered Nurse! While it seemed crazy at the time, I’m so grateful I took the leap because I learned so much about our healthcare system and the experiences of those traversing it! Throughout my trainingI continued to practice as an ND and integrated my nursing experiences and knowledge into my practice.
technique
In addition to investigating and prescribing, teaching and empowering are my tools of choice when helping my patients achieve their wellness goals. I want nothing more than for you to understand your body and how to take care of it better in order to treat and prevent illness. With my help, you will learn how to use food, exercise, nature, vitamins and herbs as your medicine.
services
To help my patients reach their wellness goals, I first employ physical exams and lab tests to detect illness and imbalance, including blood tests, food sensitivity testing, salivary hormone testing, and gut health testing. I then address concerns holistically and promote greater vitality with any combination of:

Nutrition and lifestyle counselling, Supplement recommendations, Botanical Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine including acupuncture, electroacupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, and Gua Sha, Homeopathy, Bio-identical hormones

My treatment areas of special interest include women's health across the lifespan, with a focus on hormonal concerns, fertility, prenatal and postpartum care; as well as digestive health, mental health, cardiovascular and metabolic concerns, healthy weight management, pain management, and pediatric care.
